IL CRICKET

Cricket is a team sport practiced with bat, ball and glove (of the wicket keeper-receiver) played between two groups of eleven players each. He was born in England, at least in his modern form, and is practiced, as well as in the country in which he was born, mainly in the Commonwealth countries: Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Ireland, Australia, Afghanistan, New Zealand, South Africa, Zimbabwe and the Anglophone Caribbean (British West Indies). To date it is the second most practiced sport in the world, growing rapidly in over 120 countries, divided into three groups: The Full Members (The above-mentioned nations that can play Test Matches) the Associate Members (of which Italy is part) and the Affiliate Members (of which Italy was the first ever in 1986, and is the lowest level.

The length of the matches can last from hours to several days. The numerous intervals and complicated terminology make this sport difficult to understand for inexperienced spectators. There are two variants of this sport, with unlimited overs and limited overs. In the first, a team must eliminate all the opposing batters twice to win the game, the duration of which is 4 days (home competitions) or 5 (international competitions, called tests ). In the second, the two most popular are the 50 over (called One Day International or ODI if played by the national teams), lasting one day, and the twenty over ( Twenty20 ), lasting about 3/4 hours.
